UAE: Using cell phones while driving

According to a study conducted by the Emirati newspaper "The National", three quarters of motorists have admitted using their cell phone in order to consult their messages or to make calls while driving. Only 26% of the 1 033 motorists consulted denied having ever used their cell phone while being behind the steering wheel.

The use of a cell phone while driving is liable to a fine amounting to 200 AED, that is 54.5 USD and by a four-point reduction on the driving license.
