Agreement for the acquisition by AXA of Winterthur Swiss reinsurer

The Competition Directorate General of the European Commission have given their agreement for the takeover of the Swiss reinsurer Winterthur by AXA. To achieve this move worth 8.9 billion EUR (11.28 billion USD), AXA has proceeded to an increase of its capital by 4.1 billion EUR (5.2 billion USD) and to a 4.8 billion EUR (6.08 billion USD) loan.
