Bad weather, heavy toll for insurers

The unprecedented snow falls affecting Jordan in December 2013 have resulted in significant losses for insurance companies. Extensive damages have been listed, including falling roofs which collapsed under the heavy snow. Owners of commercial or private buildings have been particularly hard hit by the storm, while numerous road accidents were also listed. Out of the 28 companies in the market, 10 are facing serious financial difficulties due to poor performance of motor insurance.
