Compulsory insurance for residential buildings in Bahrain

The insurance of multi-storey residential buildings has become mandatory in the southern governorate of Bahrain. This obligation, applying to fire and related risks shall not affect private dwellings such as villas and subsidized housing financed by the government.

The supervisory authorities are intent on extending this initiative to the country’s four other governorates: the central governorate, the capital city, the south and Muharraq.
