Digitalisation of insurance: Côte d'Ivoire has a long way to go

A panel on insurance digitalization was held on 13 November 2019 in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire. The meeting brought together insurers and executives of start-ups specializing in the digital field.

During this meeting, several participants stressed the importance of switching to digital, a field on which Ivorian insurance companies lag behind.

Bakayoko Saliou, president of Côte d'Ivoire Association of Insurance Companies (ASACI), reports that out of the 33 companies operating on the Ivorian insurance market, five offer mobile applications to customers, seven have their own websites and twelve are on the social networks. Only two insurance companies offer online underwriting.
