Epidemic risks: ARC to launch a parametric insurance product

African Risk Capacity (ARC) is developing its first parametric insurance product against high impact epidemic risks.

The new solution will provide coverage to African Union member States against three selected pathogens causing the infectious diseases Ebola, Marburg and meningitis.

Senegal is the first African country to join this new insurance program.

Munich Re has been selected as the lead reinsurer for the insurance product while the reinsurance brokerage service has been provided by Aon.
