The District Court of Luxembourg ordered the dissolution and liquidation of the insolvent life insurer FWU Life Insurance Lux on 31 January 2025.
This decision follows a winding-up petition filed by the Commissariat aux Assurances (CAA), Luxembourg's supervisory authority of the insurance sector, for failure to meet solvency requirements.
A liquidator has been appointed to send all policyholders a pre-filled claim declaration within six months of the aforementioned ruling. Creditors must submit their claims to the liquidator no later than 31 January 2028.
The case of FWU Life Insurance Lux began in 2022, with the CAA imposing sanctions on the company. On 19 July 2024, the Luxembourg life insurer informed the regulator that it no longer met the regulatory solvency requirements.
