Mandatory natural catastrophes insurance under way

On July 6, 2003 he Algerian government examined a preliminary draft concerning a mandatory insurance against the effects of natural disasters. The draft includes:

• A mandatory insurance in industrial, commercial and craft facilities for any person or entity carrying on an industrial and/or commercial activity.
• The non-payment of public compensation for people who do not subscribe to an insurance.
• A payment of a fine for non-respect of the regulation.
• An insurance contract to legalize real estate cessions and rent agreements.
