Medical liability insurance to become mandatory in Bahrain

The Bahraini National Assembly has approved a proposal to make medical liability insurance mandatory.

The draft law also calls for medical malpractice claims to be first handled by the “Supreme Medical Liability Committee”, before being referred to the courts. This body will examine all claims and provide recommendations on possible legal action.

The proposal has been submitted to the Government for further review and formal drafting.
