Solvency II, the health mutuals anticipate

Anticipating the new prudential standards of Solvency II, many health mutuals were involved in merger process.

According to the Fund CMU (Couverture Maladie Universelle), in the French insurance landscape, there were only 512 mutuals in 2012, against more than 800 in 2007.

The new prudential standards Solvency II will come into force on 1 January 2016. These will greatly raise up the capital requirements necessary to operate in the market.
