Tanzanian insurance market in 2025

The Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority (TIRA) has released data on the local insurance market for the fiscal year ended 31 December 2025.

Total insurance turnover reached 2 550 billion TZS (1.03 billion USD), up 68.4% year-on-year.

Premiums were distributed across the following segments:

• Non-life: 1 145 billion TZS (464.5 million USD)
• Health: 986.6 billion TZS (400.2 million USD)
• Life: 358.8 billion TZS (145.5 million USD)
• Takaful: 6.6 billion TZS (2.7 million USD)
• Overseas operations: 55.8 billion TZS (22.6 million USD)
