Three buildings collapse in Marseille

During the night between Saturday 8 April and Sunday 9 April 2023, a four-story building collapsed in the center of Marseille. An explosion is believed to be the cause of the disaster. The blast also caused two neighboring buildings to partially collapse.

The provisional death toll stands at 6, while two people are still missing.

An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the explosion. A gas leak seems to be the most likely cause.

Generali France and Groupama are directly involved in this loss, being comprehensive building insurers of two of the three affected buildings.
