Emirati employees urged to register in unemployment insurance scheme before deadline

unemployment insuranceThe Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) is calling on national and expatriate employees, in both the public and private sectors, to underwrite an unemployment insurance policy before 1 October 2023.

Employees who fail to meet the deadline for registering in the unemployment insurance scheme will be fined 400 AED (109 USD).

The scheme, which was implemented on 1 January 2023, is intended to guarantee social protection for workers who lose their jobs, and to reinforce the labor market in the United Arab Emirates.
