Texas ravaged by the largest wildfires in its history
Since 26 February 2024, the state of Texas has been facing the largest wildfires in its history, the most destructive of which is the "Smokehouse Creek Fire".
As at 1 March 2024 the blaze claimed the lives of two women aged 83 and 44.
According to the Texas Forest Service, more than 509 800 hectares have gone up in smoke in the series of fires, twelve of which have already been brought under control while five others remain active.
