Lloyd's of London: 2023 preliminary results

Lloyd's of London has published its preliminary business indicators for the year ending 31 December 2023. The insurance and reinsurance giant's turnover for the year reached 52.1 billion GBP (65.1 billion USD), up by 11.6% from the 46.7 billion GBP (56.3 billion USD) recorded in 2022.

The combined ratio improved by 7.9 points to 84% against 91.9% a year earlier.

During the reporting period, the return on investment amounted to 5.3 billion GBP (6.7 billion USD), compared with a loss on investment of 3.1 billion GBP (3.7 billion USD) at the end of 2022.

The underwriting result climbed from 2.6 billion GBP (3.1 billion USD) as at 31 December 2022 to 5.9 billion GBP (7.5 billion USD) twelve months later.

The British group's final results will be published on 28 March 2024.
