Swiss Re separates its life and non-life operations

In February 2023, Swiss Re declared its intention to split its reinsurance business unit into two separate entities. This operation became effective on 3 April 2023.

The first entity "P&C Re", dedicated to the non-life reinsurance business, is headed by Urs Baertschi, current Reinsurance CEO for the EMEA region. Gianfranco Lot and Nicola Parton have been appointed Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of P&C Re respectively.

Paul Murray, Julien Descombes and Grace Wong have been respectively appointed CEO, CUO and COO of the second life and health subsidiary "L&H Re".

The Zurich-based reinsurer aims through this restructuring to streamline its organizational structures, improve efficiency and enhance the customer experience.
