Swiss Re to separate its life and non-life activities

Swiss Re has announced its intention to split its current reinsurance business unit into two separate entities.

The first entity "P&C Re", dedicated to non-life reinsurance activities, will be headed by Urs Baertschi, current CEO of the reinsurance department for the EMEA zone.

Paul Murray, CEO of Swiss Re's reinsurance business in Asia, has been appointed to lead the second life and health subsidiary "L&H Re".

The Zurich-based reinsurer aims through this reorganization to streamline its organizational structures, improve efficiency and customer experience.

Pending the approval of the regulatory authorities, the transaction will be effective starting 3 April 2023.
