U.S. weather: insured losses may hit a record high

U.S. weatherThe broker BMS' first estimates indicate that the insured losses caused by the bad weather conditions that occurred in the United States in the first quarter of 2023 are likely to reach an all-time high.

Losses related to hailstorms, tornadoes and wind gusts are expected to cost between 7 and 9.5 billion USD.

The country has faced 12 severe weather events between 1 January and 31 March 2023, including the series of tornadoes that hit Mississippi on 24 March and claimed 26 lives.
