At the end of March 2023, heavy rains hit southern Somalia resulting in severe flooding. This event claimed the lives of 21 people and displaced 100 000 others.
The natural disaster [4] also ravaged six health facilities, four schools and more than 1 000 hectares of farmland.
The floods occurred at a time when the country was in the middle of a severe drought leaving more than 8.25 million people in need of humanitarian aid.
