IGI designated as the official insurer of the ACN

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has designated the Nigerian company Industrial and General Insurance Plc (IGI) as the official insurer of the African Cup of Nations (ACN) which started on January 19, 2008 in Accra (Ghana). The contract covers the 16 participant teams. Each player has been covered at up to 500 000 USD against decease risk and disability and up to 5 000 USD against injury risks occurring during matches. IGI also insures the four stadiums hosting the competition.
CAF also points out that this contract comes within the framework of a strategic partnership with IGI which is due to insure also the next edition of the ACN in Angola.
