Nairobi airport, partial settlement of 5.8 million USD

APA Insurance has disbursed 500 million KES (5.8 million USD) for the disaster that devastated the “arrival " terminal of Nairobi Airport last August 7. This partial settlement should allow the insured, “Kenya Airport Authority” (KAA) to deal with first reconstruction costs.

Last November, a 19.9 million KES (230 039 USD) settlement was made for the benefit of City Micro Computers.
This company has signed a contract of 200 million KES (2.3 million USD) to install cameras in the terminal. The reinsurers involved with APA Insurance are Swiss Re, Africa Re, Kenya Re, Zep Re and East Africa Re. An electrical fault was believed to be the cause of the loss.
