Africa Re: Corneille Karekezi, mandate renewal
The 43rd General Assembly of Africa Re was held remotely on 30 June 2021. On that day, the Board of Directors decided to reappoint Corneille Karekezi as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the group for five years.
Karkezi has been managing the pan-African reinsurer since 1 July 2011.
On the other hand, Hassan Boubrik, Chairman of the company's Board of Directors, is stepping down after eight years in business.
In 2020, Africa Re achieved a turnover of 804.77 million USD, a decline of 4.74% compared to 844.79 million USD recorded in 2019.
The net profit after tax amounted to 55.71 million USD against 99.9 million USD in 2019, which stands for a 44.2% decline over one year.
The company's shareholder’s equity was established at 975 million USD in 2019 and set at 1.017 billion USD in 2020.
