Anti-covid apps installed without users’ knowledge

smartphoneAiming to contain the spread of the coronavirus, several countries have launched anti-covid applications based on "Covid contact tracing": StopCovid, Corona-Warn-App, etc. Consequently, this has provoked a wave of complaints on social media as soon as it was made known to the public.

Many citizens fear the disclosure of their personal data, while others doubt the installation of software on their smartphone without their knowledge.

Are we being spied on?

While checking phone settings, it is possible to find a setting for Covid-19 exposure notifications. In fact, a specific program has been installed by Google and Apple on the phones. It is a tool that allows governments and health agencies to access, if necessary, a set of data. However, such access is only possible if the user installs an application such as the "Covid contact tracing".

In short, individuals are not exposed to the risk of data hijacking.
