Aon abandons its merger plan with Willis Towers Watson
The British broker Aon has reconsiderd its decision to merge with Willis Towers Watson, just one day after confirming that talks were underway.
The Irish legislation regulating Willis Towers Watson in Ireland would account for this merger cancellation. It would prevent Aon from beginning negotiations with the Dublin-based group in the next twelve months.
Aon is the second largest broker worldwide followed by Willis Tower Watson. Their merger could have been one of the largest transactions in the insurance industry for an estimated value of 24 billion USD.
