Covid-19: an intelligent application could soon replace the test

Artificial intelligenceWhat if a smartphone or an online application could replace the PCR test? Researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) have successfully created an artificial intelligence program capable of detecting people with Covid-19. The program analyzes the emitted sounds and checks for possible Covid-19 contagion when a person coughs or pronounces certain words on the smartphone.

In terms of results, 98.5% of the people suspected by the program of being Covid-19 positive were found to be contaminated. Based on this sample, all asymptomatic people were correctly detected.

The program is currently in the scientific validation phase. The next step would be to integrate this artificial intelligence in an application or an online support and to have the validation of the Bureau of Consumer Protection in the United States (FDA - Food and Drug Administrations).
