Entry into force of the new unified motor insurance program in Saudi Arabia

The new version of the unified motor insurance program in Saudi Arabia came into effect on August 26, 2018. Several modifications have been made to the old document. These include the change in the basis for the calculation of compensation and the extension of the limitation period.

With the new amendments, policyholders can now file a complaint online via the website of the Saudi Monetary Agency (SAMA). Before the amendment, this procedure was carried out by the Resolution of Insurance Disputes and Validation Committee.

Equally important: the new law provides cover for drivers from the age of 18 instead of 21.
