Floods in Nabeul: Part of the damage will be borne by insurers

According to Kamel Chibani, CEO of FTUSA, insurers will bear part of the damage caused by the floods that hit Cap Bon on Saturday, September 22, 2018.

Only companies and individuals who have underwritten the additional flood cover (natural catastrophes or forces of nature) will be reimbursed. This additional cover may have been purchased in addition to a fire or a homowner's policy for individuals and all-rik policy for corporates and legal persons.

Will also be inemnified, the motor insured who have underwritten the additional forces of nature cover granted with that of vehicle's own damage.

The CEO of FTUSA has called for the establishment of an agency for natural catastrophe prevention in order to cushion the effects of such losses in the future. He has also called for reviewing the insurance code to render natural catastrophe insurance mandatory.
