Towards a reform of the Algerian insurance sector

A round table has recently taken place between the National Insurance Council (CNA) and the Algerian Union of Insurance and Reinsurance Companies (UAR). The debate focused on the reform of the law governing insurance activity in Algeria. The improvement of services, the acceleration of the digital transition and the creation of an independent regulatory and supervisory authority were among the main recommendations proposed at this meeting.

Stakeholders also spoke of the need to diversify insurance distribution channels. It should be noted that 69% of underweitings in the Algerian insurance market come from the direct network, 29% from intermediaries (general agents and brokers) and 2% from bancassurance.
