The Algerian insurance market, results for the first half of 2018

According to the national insurance council (CNA), the turnover of the Algerian insurance market increased by 4.7% at June 30, 2018, compared to the same period of 2017. It was set at 73.3 billion DZD (617.5 million USD).

The non-life class of business reported premims worth 64.5 billion DZD (543.4 million USD), up by 5.1% compared to the first half of 2017.

Natural disasters insurance recorded the highest evolution with 2.9 billion DZD (24.4 million USD) in premiums, that is a rise of 122%.

For its part, life insurance fell by 7.7%, from 6.5 billion DZD (54.8 million USD) of premiums, against 7.05 billion DZD (65.1 million USD) one year ago. As a reminder, State-run companies hold 72.4% of the insurance sector's overall turnover.
