The court is considering the US health insurance market consolidation

On December 5, 2016, the Washington, D.C. federal court commenced its first hearing on the case of the acquisition of Humana by Aetna and Cigna by Anthem, two mega-mergers and acquisitions announced in 2015.

It should be remembered that in July 2016, the Department of Justice (DoJ) filed a lawsuit to prevent the fulfillment of these transactions, which should lead to reduced competition and increased inequalities in access to health services.
The final verdict is expected to be announced by January 2017.
