With the adoption of new data protection laws in several countries, companies are increasingly looking for coverage against cyber attacks. During the first nine months of 2016, AIG processed 170 claims files of this type.
This number was only 25 during the same period of 2014. Insurers expect an increase in demand for cyber risks covers.
The entry into force in May 2018 of the European regulation on the protection of personal data will only amplify this movement.
