The Inter-African Conference on Insurance Markets (CIMA) held a meeting in Douala on 23, 24 and 25 February 2017 on the topic of insurance and mobile telephony. Approximately 150 professionals looked into the opportunities of marketing insurance through mobile phones.
The meeting made it possible to take the pulse of the market with a view to adapting the regulation to the underwriting of insurance and microinsurance policies via mobiles. The ultimate goal is to broaden the paned of the insured. A draft bill is expected to be finalized by the end of 2017.
