Leaderboard of Algerian insurers in 2021

The Algerian direct insurance market has recorded a 144.7 billion DZD (1.04 billion USD) turnover in 2021, increasing by 5% over a year.

The Société Nationale d'Assurance (SAA) maintained its leading position with a turnover of 28.8 billion DZD (206.46 million USD), that is, a 20% market share.

Second in the ranking is the Compagnie Algérienne des Assurances (CAAT) which posted 25.404 billion DZD (182.11 million USD) of written premiums in 2021.

The Compagnie Algérienne d'Assurance et de Réassurance (CAAR) came in last place with 16.257 billion DZD (116.54 million USD) of premium income.

These last two companies respectively accounted for 18% and 11% of the total direct premiums underwritten in Algeria as at 31 December 2021.

In 2021, the Algerian insurance market comprised 12 non-life companies, 8 life entities, one reinsurer (CCR) and two companies specialized in real estate credit insurance (SGCI) and the other in export credit insurance (CAGEX).
