Pakistan has been grappling with an exceptionally intense summer monsoon for over two months, triggering deadly floods and landslides across the country.
According to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), nearly 800 people have lost their lives since 26 June 2025.
The provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab have been particularly hard hit. Flash floods have swept away numerous homes and schools, especially in mountainous areas. Many residents have been evacuated, and authorities are urging the public to stay alert, avoid flooded roads, and prepare emergency kits.
In Punjab, officials remain on high alert due to persistently high water levels in the Sutlej, Ravi, and Chenab rivers.
While the monsoon is an annual occurrence in Pakistan, this season has been unusually intense and abrupt.
As a reminder, around 1 700 people lost their lives in the devastating monsoon floods of 2022.
