For several days, northern Morocco has been grappling with severe flooding across a number of provinces, including Larache.

The rapid rise in water levels has submerged entire neighborhoods and caused rivers to overflow, placing thousands of residents in serious danger.

According to the General Directorate of Meteorology, conditions could worsen further due to ongoing torrential rainfall, at times accompanied by strong winds, thunderstorms, and snowfall.

As part of preventive measures, local authorities have gradually evacuated 108 423 people.

By way of reminder, widespread flooding struck the western coastal city of Safi in December 2025, resulting in 37 fatalities.

Algeria and Tunisia have also been affected by flooding in recent weeks.
