A report by Munich Re, made public on July 12, 2016, costs of natural disasters [4]borne by reinsurers in the first half of 2016 amounted to 27 billion USD. This amount was 19 billion USD during the same period in 2015.
With 3 800 deaths, the death toll however proved to be five times lighter than that recorded during the first six months of 2015.
