Insurance for low income people
First Micro Insurance Agency (FMIA) has launched an insurance scheme for low-income families. This non profit agency is co-funded by the Bill Gates Foundation and the Aga Khan agency for microfinance. The project supports government efforts to reduce poverty in rural areas. It plans to offer insurance coverage for agricultural, health and borrowers risks. The program lasts five years. Today only 3% of Tanzanians have access to insurance.
